Injury Monitoring

Every injury on record, with the week that led up to it

Log the injury once and Fractall attaches what the athlete's data already showed in the days before it happened. You get the ACWR at injury, the wellness scores and the pain they'd been reporting. The record then follows the athlete through return to play until they're cleared.

Fractall injury monitoring overview listing active, return to play and cleared injuries with days out and recurrence for each athlete

What is injury monitoring in Fractall?

Fractall's injury monitoring is where a coach records an injury against an athlete and follows it to the end. You capture the body area and the specific structure, the type and diagnosis, how it happened, and the signs and symptoms. Each record is either active, in return to play, or cleared. Because your athletes already submit RPE and wellness in the same system, every record opens with the week before the injury attached.

The injury list and the load data never meet

Most clubs record both. Almost none can read them together.

The record lives in someone else's notebook

The physio keeps the injuries. You keep the load. Joining the two means a phone call and a rough date, usually weeks later.

Nobody kept the week before

By the time you ask whether the athlete had been flagging, their wellness answers are buried in a form export and the session RPEs are on another tab.

The same hamstring goes twice

Without the last record in front of you, a recurrence looks like a new injury. The pattern only shows up at the end of the season, when it's no use.

From logging it to reading the history

One record, filled in when it happens and read back later.

01

Log the injury

Pick the athlete, the date, and whether it happened in training or a game. Mark the spot on a body map that layers muscles and tendons over the skeleton and the joints, front and back, so "Quadriceps (Left)" goes down as a structure instead of a note someone has to interpret later. The pre-injury panel fills itself in beside the form while you work, with the ACWR and the wellness scores from the seven days before.

02

Track it

The squad list groups every injury by active, return to play and cleared, counts the days out on its own, and flags the row when it's a recurrence. Search by athlete, area, structure or diagnosis. The tiles across the top say how many are out right now and which area the squad reports most.

03

Analyse the athlete's history

Open a record and you get the injury information and the dated recovery entries from both phases. Earlier injuries to the same structure are flagged as recurrences, so a third hamstring reads as the third one. The week that preceded this injury sits on the same screen.

Pre-injury context

The week before, attached to the record

Opening an injury shows what the athlete's own data looked like in the days leading up to it. It's pulled from submissions they'd already made, so nobody reconstructs it from memory afterwards.

  • ACWR at the moment of injury
  • Fatigue, soreness, sleep quality, stress and mood
  • Session RPE and weekly load from the sessions before it
  • Where the athlete reported pain, front, back and joints
  • Menstrual phase, for athletes who track it
  • Earlier injuries to the same structure, flagged as a recurrence

What you get

One record per injury

Body area, specific structure, type, diagnosis, episode, mechanism, signs, symptoms and notes, on one searchable screen.

States counted for you

Days out updates itself as an athlete moves from active to return to play to cleared, so the availability answer stays current without anyone maintaining it.

The week before, already attached

ACWR and wellness from the days up to the injury, taken from submissions the athlete had already made.

Recurrence flagged on sight

Fractall checks the athlete's history for the same area and structure, then tells you when this one has happened before.

Recovery notes with dates on them

Short entries as the athlete progresses, kept in order, split between the injury phase and return to play.

Scans on the record

Attach PDFs, DICOM files and images up to 25MB, so the MRI report sits with the injury it belongs to.

Read it next to wellness tracking and ACWR and training load

Questions coaches ask

What can I record against an injury?+

Body area and the specific structure inside it, the type (muscular, joint, ligament, tendon, bone and others), the diagnosis (strain, sprain, tear, contusion, concussion, overload), whether it happened in a game or training, and whether it was indirect non-contact or direct traumatic. You add the mechanism in your own words, tick the signs and symptoms, and write free notes.

What do active, RTP and cleared mean?+

Active means the athlete is out. RTP means return to play has started and they're working back. Cleared means they're available again. Fractall counts the days out for each state, and the overview tells you how many athletes sit in each.

Where does the pre-injury data come from?+

From the RPE and wellness submissions your athletes were already making. Nothing extra is collected at the point of injury. An athlete who had been checking in gets a full window. One who hadn't gets an empty one, which tells you something about your compliance.

Does it predict injuries?+

No. Fractall records what happened and shows what the athlete's data looked like beforehand. Read back across a season, that shows you which athletes keep breaking down in the same place. We don't sell it as a warning system.

Can I attach medical documents?+

Yes. PDFs, DICOM files, JPGs and PNGs, up to 25MB each, attached to the injury record itself.

Do I need GPS units or wearables?+

No. Injury monitoring runs on what athletes report in the app. If you do have GPS, Fractall imports it from Catapult, StatSports, WIMU and others, and it reads on the same athlete record.
